These bold and insightful debuts offer meditations on time, memory and family. Linda Anderson’s collection The Station Before (Pavilion Poetry, 2020) ruminates on the links between history and nature, with keen observations on light and places of sanctuary. John Challis’ The Resurrectionists expertly explores voices of industry and landscape, telling stories of London markets, moth collectors and rivers (Bloodaxe Books, 2021). Denise Saul’s The Room Between Us (Pavilion Poetry, 2022) explores a mother’s illness and subsequent aphasia and a daughter’s ongoing role as carer, in vibrant and graceful poems.
