Songs From the Drowned World
Over seventy percent of Earth is covered in water. This figure is predicted to rise, and the map of globe to change, in some places beyond recognition. Whatever the outcome, poets will be compelled to address it. In this workshop we’ll be working towards poems where the future floods the present, when poetry’s ancient tasks of prophecy, elegy and song take on an ever-greater urgency. ‘The long day wanes: the slow moon climbs: the deep / Moans round with many voices. Come, my friends…’
